Apple Being the Great Marketer
Apple was incorporated on January 1977 and as advisor/investor, Mike Markkula, he assembled a 3 Point Philosophy:
1. Empathy- We will truly understand their [customer] needs better than any other company. 2. Focus- In order to do a good job of the things we decide to do, we must eliminate all of the unimportant opportunities. 3. Impute- People do judge a book by its cover. We may have the best product, the highest quality, the most useful software, etc.; if we present them in a slipshod manner, they will be preceived as slipshod; if we present them in a creative, professional manner, we will impute the desired qualities. After 35 years later, this philosophy has remained to be Apple's core of what makes Apple so effective at creating and profiting from loyal customers. Apple has shown that it is not only an outstanding technology company but also an outstanding marketer. Apple’s marketing strategy is a unique blend of traditional and nontraditional elements. However, at the core, Apple has figured out how to attract and retain customers, to generate an enormous amount of word of mouth and brand appeal, and to build a business model, channel structure, and moat that give it a powerful competitive advantage. |
